Department of Record Management

The department of Record Management offers programmes at NTA Level 4, 5 and 6 (Certificate and Diploma Programmes); namely: Basic Technician Certificate in Record Management (BTCRM), Technician Certificate in Record Management (TCRM), and Diploma in Certificate in Record Management (DRM)

Basic Technician Certificate in Record Management (NTA Level 4)

This programme is intended to provide the Learners with the foundation in Records Management career. Upon completion of this programme the Learner will be able to work as Records Management Assistant II in the Public Service and Private sector. Upon completion of the Basic Certificate Technician in Records Management programme, the Learner will able to:
  • Apply Basic Principles of Records Management in managing records
  • Apply office Practice, ethics and principles governing the conduct of government business
  • Apply business languages for official communication
  • Operate office machines, computer and equipment

Technician Certificate in Record Management (NTA Level 5)

This programme is intended to prepare Learners for a career in Records Management. Upon completion of this programme the Learners will able to work as Records Management Assistant in the Public and Private sector. Upon completion of the Certificate in Records Management programme, the will be able to:
  • Apply principles of records management for improving records keeping in organisations
  • Apply records management systems and procedures for maintaining organisational records
  • Apply principles of Archives Management for safe custody of records
  • Apply statistical and database techniques in keeping records
  • Analyse government structure, organization and diversity issues
  • Employ interpersonal and communication skills techniques for improved service delivery

Diploma in Records Management (NTA Level 6)

This programme is intended to prepare Learners for higher career in Records Management. Upon completion of this programme the Learners will able to work as Senior or Principal Records Management Assistant in the Public Service and Private sector. Upon completion of the Certificate in Records Management programme, the Learner will able to:
  • Apply principles of records management for improving records keeping in organisations
  • Apply records management systems and procedures for maintaining organisational records
  • Apply principles of Archives Management for safe custody of records
  • Apply statistical and database techniques in keeping records
  • Analyze government structure, organization and diversity issues
  • Employ interpersonal and communication skills techniques for improved service delivery
